Hello Followers!!!! Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. With the Summer officially over, Oscar Season is ready to take center stage as well as anticipation for fall and winter blockbusters. Today, it's time to reflect time on the amazing summer movie season we have experienced. Let's end the SMS the right way by handing out some Summer Movie Season Awards.
Best Summer Movie Actress (Gal Gadot)
After a statement setting performance in Batman v Superman, Gal Gadot entered the standalone project of the Amazon warrior princess with power, confidence, and grace delivering one of the year's most iconic performances. With a turn in Justice League still on the horizon, fans can't wait to see Wonder Woman back in the fold.
Best Summer Movie Actor (Andy Serkis)
Despite being in performance capture, Andy Serkis gave a performance for the ages in the emotionally enveloping 3rd chapter in the Planet of the Apes franchise. Oozing with emotion, substance, and character growth, Serkis has created one of the most iconic and well developed characters in modern cinema.
Best Animated Movie (Cars 3)
After a misfire second installment, fans returned to the world of Cars for a more fun and grounded sequel. With a more well constructed film, the cars series closes with a memorable experience with keen sense of much needed heart and soul.
Best Sci-Fi Movie (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2)
The Galactic misfits turned cosmic defenders delivered a fun sci fi romp that brought action, humor, and emotion in the latest installment of the MCU. The wait now begins for the Guardians of the Galaxy to join earth's mightiest heroes in the ultimate battle for the ages.
Best Drama (War for the Planet of the Apes)
Rarely does a movie come along that closes a character arc in such an impactful and amazing way. War for the Planet of the Apes delivered a satisfying conclusion to Caesar's story and put a powerful bow on this incredible trilogy.
Best Superhero Movie (Wonder Woman)
Power, Grace, Passion, and Love. One movie captured the essence of an iconic character so well turning a very pressure filled film it out one of the most memorable experiences of the summer. Behind Gal Gadot's great performance, Patty Jenkins directing, and a terrific collection of supporting characters. Wonder Woman is the summer's superhero champ and a much needed jolt in the arm for the growing DC Extended Universe.
Movie of the Summer (Spider-Man Homecoming)
A much needed and long overdue introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man made his MCU solo debut resulting in hands down the most fun and entertaining film of the summer movie season. Fast, fun, hilarious, and heartfelt, Spider-Man Homecoming is an awesome summer treat and one of the best films in the MCU.
