Happy followers!!! I hope your June is going well. The opening month of the summer movie season has come and gone as hard as that is to believe. A lot transpired in the cinematic showings of month 1 so let’s break it all down in our first monthly recap of the season.

Not having an MCU film to kick off the summer feels weird. But The Fall Guy was a worthy substitute to kick off SMS 2024. Funny, heartfelt, and surprisingly pointed in how some people are seen in the industry, The Fall Guy was a surprise gem that set the right tone for the still-young summer lineup.

It’s crazy how a reboot of a sci-fi series from the 60s can still manage to continue the momentum of being one of the most engaging sagas of modern media. Kingdom of The Planet of The Apes delivers another standout installment that introduces new characters and sets up a narrative trajectory that adds intrigue moving forward. This new era in the Apes saga promises a lot of interesting twists and turns. Fans and newcomers in general have a lot to be excited about. 

The essence of childlike wonder is truly magical. However, as we get older, the childlike essence fades and the connections to that part of us fade or disappear. IF crafted a narrative that reinforces the importance of not losing that part of ourselves while delivering funny and heartfelt moments along the way. No matter how old we get, we should always hold on to the kid at heart in us all.

A trail of chaos follows her wherever she goes. Her grit made her a survivor, her resolve made her ruthless, and her escapades made her legendary. Furiousa A Mad Max Saga followed up on the foundation of the character’s initial debut in the 2015 masterpiece. Non-stop action and unforgettable performances made this high-octane road rage fest a scorching experience. If you don’t know her name, you do now.

The path to being a legend is never an easy feat. Especially for a female athlete in the 1920s. But for those her persevere, greatness will always find them. Young Woman and The Sea is a story about defying the odds amid all those telling you something cannot be done. With this year’s summer games just months away, the film is a strong reminder of what someone is capable of facing odds that seem impossible.
