2014 Summer Movie Season Preview
Hey
there followers. Long time no see. My hope is that you are having a great first
few months of 2014. But now we are near the end of April, so you know what that
means. That’s right: The annual summer movie season is almost here. Despite
the excitement for this year’s summer films, the slate of films that have been
released thus far have been amazing in their own right. But now the biggest
collection of blockbusters are prepared to thrill audiences for what promises
to be an exciting May through August. Without further delay, let’s see what is
in store for us in the next few months.
The opening month of the summer
movie season always delivers big thrills and this year is no different. The
month of May sees the return of the web slinging dynamo Spider-Man I the
anticipated sequel to Marc Web’s rebooted Spiderman franchise. Following
afterwards is the reimaging of one of cinema’s most iconic beast as Garth
Edwards introduces the king of the monsters Godzilla
to the new generation. On Memorial Day, Marvel takes center stage again as
Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto begin an epic fight for survival that will
force them to travel to the past to save their future in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Finally in the home stretch, Angelina
Jolie brings to life one of Disney’s greatest villains Maleficent, in the live action retelling of the classic Sleeping
Beauty.
What could be described as the heart
of the Summer Movie Season, June promises hopeful blockbusters and also
features the return of two iconic franchises. On June 6th, Divergent stars Shailene
Woodley and Ansel Elgort return to the big screen as Hazel Grace Lancaster and
Augustus Waters in the highly anticipated adaption of John Green’s acclaimed
novel The Fault in Our Stars. That
same day, Tom Cruise returns to sci-fi alongside Emily Blunt in the action
paced thriller Edge of Tomorrow. On June 13th, audiences will be
able to return to the island of Berk and reunite with young Viking Hiccup and
his pal Toothless in the sequel to the beloved animated film, How to Train Your Dragon 2. Then on June
27th, a summer movie franchise makes its long awaited return as
director Michael Bay brings back the Autobots and Deceptions for another
blockbuster run in Transformers: Age of
Extinction.
In July, the big films may be I
short supply but there are still plenty of great movies that are more than
worthy to get excited about. On July 11th, the struggle for
domination reaches a head as humanity struggles for global supremacy over a
rising simian empire in Dawn of The
Planet of the Apes. Then, Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum team up in the
sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending
directed by the Wackowski Brothers.
Big
things await as we get closer to the start of the summer movie season this
Friday. Stay tuned for the May preview plus more in the coming days. Welcome
back to summer followers!!!
