This year, the line up of films is beyond comprehension with every week promising one memorable blockbuster after another. As anticipation grows for the biggest silver screen block party of the year, let's rundown what each month has in store for us in this year's summer movie season preview.
May brings a plethora of hits to the forefront to kick start the season. Marvel returns to the spotlight with the highly anticipated sequel for the galactic outlaws turned defenders in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. On May 12th, destiny befalls a street kid as he faces his future head on in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. May 19th brings two romance centric movies in week three. Witness how far one girl will go for love in the adaptation of the young adult romantic novel Everything Everything. Alternatively, if you have a "love" for chest busters and Xenomorphs ripping humans apart like tissue paper, Alien Covenant might be more your speed. The films slated for release in June kick the SMS into high gear. The DCEU returns in their ambitious and most pressure filled film yet in the anticipated standalone adventure Wonder Woman. On June 9th, Tom Cruise takes on the wrath of a vengeful and powerful entity in the first installment of the Universal Monster Universe in The Mummy. Then, Lightning McQueen races to catch up in the new age of racing in Cars 3. Concluding June is the latest explosive installment of one of the biggest summer blockbuster franchises with Transformers The Last Knight.
Month 3 of the summer movie season brings more than just fireworks. After a spectacular introduction into the MCU, Peter Parker tries to juggle life between being an Avenger and a high school kid in the highly-anticipated Spider-Man Homecoming. On July 14th, the battle for the planet reaches a fever pitch as both man and beast clash in War for the Planet of the Apes. On July 21st, Christopher Nolan makes his return to the screen in the World War II epic Dunkirk while Luc Besson brings one of the most acclaimed graphic novels to life in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
