2014 Summer Movie Season: Special Edition




Giggles That Sizzle!!!! Comedies of the Summer Movie Season

Good afternoon followers. In the summer, we expect great action, fun stories, and high quality entertainment. However, this summer offers more than just explosions and CGI eye candy, it also offers some potentially solid comedies. I this post we take a look at the comedy lineup that deserves your attention.
 
 
 
 
 

 
 
Neighbors (May 9th)
            From the creators of the hit comedy This is The End, comes the hilarious story that pits and newlywed parents against an obnoxious fraternity that has moved in next door. Headlined by Seth Rogan, Zac Efron, Dave Franco, Rose Byrne, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Neighbors promises crazy antics as these two different worlds collide in a raunchy, gut-busting, and hilarity filled laugh fest.
 
 
 
 
A Million Ways to Die in the West (May 30th)
            From Director Seth Macfarlane, the director of Ted. A Million Ways to Die in The West, tells the story of sheep farmer Albert. After withdrawing from a duel, he loses his confidence and his girlfriend. But when a mysterious woman come to town and befriends him, the woman’s vicious gunslinger husband rages into town looking to start chaos, Albert must find the courage to face his fears and become the town’s unlikely hero. Charlize Theron, Neil Patrick Harris, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, Liam Neeson, and MacFarlane himself headline this western comedy that is sure to rock the box office on May 30th.
 
 
 
 
 
Think Like a Man Too (June 20th)
            The anticipated sequel to the 2012 hit Think Like a Man, sees the return of superstar Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P Henson, Michael Ealy, and others in Think Like a Man Too. After getting their relationships, Cedric and the gang arrive in Vegas for one of their friend’s wedding. To celebrate, both parties agree to have a contest: who can throw the best bachelor/bachelorette party. What ensues is a crazy night of laugh inducing escapades that challenges the not: “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.” What serves as Kevin Hart’s 4th film of the year, he returns to the silver screen looking to nab another box office championship to his belt.
 
 
 
22 Jump Street (June 13th)
            Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill return as Jenko and Norton in 22 Jump Street, the sequel to 2012 surprise hit 21 Jump Street. At the end of 21 Jump Street, Capt. Dickson (Ice Cube) announced that Morton and Jenko’s next assignment would require them to go to college. Guess what happens in 22 Jump Street? Now Jenko and Morton must track down the drug supplier that has control of the drug ring inside the college and bring him down. However, that doesn’t mean that can’t cause a little college student mayhem along the way.

2014 Summer Movie Season - Month 1 Preview (May 2014)






Marvel and Wonder!!!! Mutants, Monsters, and Spidey Headline Month of May!!!

Hey Followers. As you know, the start of the summer movie season is only a few days away. As we get closer to the start of this exciting time of the year, here are breakdowns of the big films you should lookout for in May
 
 
 





Spider-Man returns in the second
 installment of the rebooted franchise.
 The Amazing Spider Man 2 (Colombia Pictures/Marvel, May 2nd)

                Serving as a sequel to 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, Director Marc Webb returns with the anticipated sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Andrew Garfield returns as Peter Parker as he begins to fully embrace his role and responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, he continues to search for answers as he tries to uncover clues to the mysterious disappearance of his parents. He also maintains a romantic relationship with his girlfriend Gwen Stacy, despite her father’s warning to stay away. As he digs deeper into the secrets being kept from him, he is reunited with his childhood friend Harry Osborn and also encounters new villous threats such as Rhino and Electro. As Peter faces possibly his biggest challenge yet, Peter will soon discover that though secrets have their cost. The truth can also hold its share of pain as well. Headlined by the stellar cast of Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHann, and others, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to being what promises to be another start of a great summer vacation at the movies.

                Back in 1998, Roland Emmerich tried to rejuvenate the classic Japanese monster Godzilla. But despite the effort, the finished product left a bitter taste in fans and critics mouths. 16 year later, Director Garth Edwards is taking a swing at introducing the iconic beast to the 21st century. Behind earth shattering action, stunning visual effects, and a solid cast headlined by Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryon Cranston, this remade version of the famous king of the monsters may be just the film that fans, critics, and the movie nation have been waiting for.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (20th Century Fox/Marvel, May 23rd)

                Based on one of the best comic book arcs in the X-Men timeline, Director Bryan Singer returns alongside X-Men veterans Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Halle Berry, and more as they join X-Men newcomers Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence in X: Men Days of Future Past. Set after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Days of Future Past sees Wolverine, Storm, Charles Xavier, Magneto, Kitty Pryde, and the rest of the X-Men in a deadly war against mutant killing sentinels. With defeat inching closer, Charles Xavier asks Logan to travel into the past to team up with the younger versions of Xavier and Magneto to ensure the survival of not only mutant kind but mankind. What can only be described as the biggest X-Men movie ever, Bryan Singer brings together the X-Men of the old generation and new generation which promises to be a spectacle on Memorial Day.

 
 
 
 
Maleficent (Walt Disney Pictures, May 30th)
Angelina Jolie transforms herself into one of
 the most fearsome villains in Disney History
                One of the all-time Disney classics Sleeping Beauty has been watched by generations of moviegoers for years. But what seems to be just as memorable as the story, is the presence of antagonist Maleficent. However, if you have just seen the 1959 classic, you may not be looking at the full picture. Disney is fixing that by offering fans a re-imagining of the story by telling it from Maleficent’s point of view. Headlined by Academy Award nominee Angelina Jolie, the film offers a new perspective on one of Disney’s beloved films and gives fans a deeper more in depth look at one of the greatest Disney villains of all time.

2014 Summer Movie Season Preview

 

Hey there followers. Long time no see. My hope is that you are having a great first few months of 2014. But now we are near the end of April, so you know what that means. That’s right: The annual summer movie season is almost here. Despite the excitement for this year’s summer films, the slate of films that have been released thus far have been amazing in their own right. But now the biggest collection of blockbusters are prepared to thrill audiences for what promises to be an exciting May through August. Without further delay, let’s see what is in store for us in the next few months.

 
 

 

            The opening month of the summer movie season always delivers big thrills and this year is no different. The month of May sees the return of the web slinging dynamo Spider-Man I the anticipated sequel to Marc Web’s rebooted Spiderman franchise. Following afterwards is the reimaging of one of cinema’s most iconic beast as Garth Edwards introduces the king of the monsters Godzilla to the new generation. On Memorial Day, Marvel takes center stage again as Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto begin an epic fight for survival that will force them to travel to the past to save their future in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Finally in the home stretch, Angelina Jolie brings to life one of Disney’s greatest villains Maleficent, in the live action retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty.

 

 

            What could be described as the heart of the Summer Movie Season, June promises hopeful blockbusters and also features the return of two iconic franchises. On June 6th, Divergent stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort return to the big screen as Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters in the highly anticipated adaption of John Green’s acclaimed novel The Fault in Our Stars. That same day, Tom Cruise returns to sci-fi alongside Emily Blunt in the action paced thriller Edge of Tomorrow. On June 13th, audiences will be able to return to the island of Berk and reunite with young Viking Hiccup and his pal Toothless in the sequel to the beloved animated film, How to Train Your Dragon 2. Then on June 27th, a summer movie franchise makes its long awaited return as director Michael Bay brings back the Autobots and Deceptions for another blockbuster run in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

 
 
            In July, the big films may be I short supply but there are still plenty of great movies that are more than worthy to get excited about. On July 11th, the struggle for domination reaches a head as humanity struggles for global supremacy over a rising simian empire in Dawn of The Planet of the Apes. Then, Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum team up in the sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending directed by the Wackowski Brothers.
