HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLLOWERS!!! Welcome to Day 1 0f 2016!!! I hope your 2015 was everything you hoped for. But now that we are officially in the New Year, we can now set our sights on what lies ahead in the new year. While 2015 was one of the biggest movie years in history, the films set to be released in 2016 look to be just as exciting. With that, let’s go over some of the big time storylines heading into this year and then I’ll share with you my top 10 upcoming films for this year.
Top Storylines of 2016
With The Hunger Games franchise officially concluded, a big
hole needs to be filled as the young adult film genre looks for a worthy
successor to its most recent king. The latest entry in the Divergent Series
will try to earn the honor despite digging a big hole for themselves with two
installments that disregard the source material resulting in minimal success.
However, a new competitor may be set to take the throne. Rising star Chloe
Grace Moretz steps into the shoes of hardened survivor Cassie Sullivan in the
on-screen adaptation of Rick Yancy’s acclaimed sci-fi post-apocalyptic novel
The 5th Wave. The struggling successor and the promising new up and
comer will be vying for the title as the next true young adult phenomenon.
If you aren’t a big fan of the superhero genre, than 2016 might be the long year for you. This year, 6 superhero films spanning from 3 studios are set for release throughout the winter, spring, summer, and fall. The X-Men, Avengers, Batman, Super Man, and the long awaited debut of the merc with a mouth headline this massive superhero line-up.
3 years ago, DC comics released the reboot of the superman
franchise Man of Steel and looked to take the title of best superhero studio
away from Marvel. However, since DC went on a 2 year hiatus, Marvel Studios
have become one of the biggest and most financially powerful film corporations
in the world. A silver screen rivalry as heated as ever, DC and Marvel are set
to trade blows as both studios prepare to dish out the years most anticipated
films. Whoever wins, WE ALL WIN!!!!
Now let me share with you my top ten upcoming films for 2016.

Going Dorothy
A normal day for Cassie Sullivan turns into a
terrifying fight for survival. After a mysterious extraterrestrial air craft
enters earth’s atmosphere, a series of cataclysmic events rock the planet
resulting in mass panic and widespread death. After her brother is taken from
her, Cassie goes on a perilous journey to save her little brother in this new
and dangerous either/or world. Based on the powerful novel from Rick Yancy,
Chloe Grace Moretz leads a talented cast in this new sci-fi
adventure and newest addition to the young adult book to film adaptation genre.
Coming in with the same amount potential that Divergent had, one can only hope
that The 5th Wave can succeed where Divergent struggled and become
the next big young adult phenomenon.

Beyond The Wall
With Janine overthrown and the doors to the outside world opened, Chicago is on the brink of major change. Despite the life beyond the wall now within reach, most residents are hesitant to venture out for fear of the unknown. Looking to show their town that there is hope beyond their dying city, Tris and Four lead a crew over the wall to discover any signs of life. What they find is a highly advanced civilization who’s intention may not as pure as they seem. Serving as Part 1 of the conclusion of the Divergent series, Allegiant takes Tris Prior and company out of Chicago and into the unknown world beyond the wall. The film will attempt to salvage what little relevance this once potential young adult franchise has and end the series on a high note. The world beyond the wall awaits.

The Red Capes Are Coming
Years ago, the city of Metropolis was rocked by the invasion
of kryptonian warriors that wanted to terraform Earth to resurrect their world.
The brave and heroic effort of Clark Kent aka Superman stopped the plot and
saved the planet resulting in him becoming a shining symbol of hope. Unfortunately,
not everyone is appreciative of Superman’s efforts and accolades. Particularly
multi billionaire Bruce Wayne. Looking to silence the so called “Son of Krypton”,
Bruce becomes the famous Batman in hopes of showing Superman what true power
is. Serving as the official start of DC’s Shared Universe, Batman v Superman
Dawn of Justice brings together the mightiest heroes for a showdown that will
eventually birth one of the most celebrated superhero teams ever created. Let
the battle begin.

Divided We Fall
Ever since the cataclysmic events in sokovia, the Avengers seem to have found themselves in a very heated PR nightmare. After yet another mass global event that results in more tragedy, the US government steps in to try and maintain the Avengers unsupervised activities and essentially put a leash on their workings. This puts Captain Steve Rodgers in a tight spot given he is still trying to save his brainwashed friend Bucky Barnes. With tension rising and lines drawn that put a strain on the entire team, the Avengers face a massive threat that will pit them against their most challenging opponent yet…each other. Acting as the official opener to Marvel Phase 3, Captain America Civil War promises to be a dark foreshadowing of events for earth’s mightiest heroes as loyalties will be tested and friends become enemies in the most emotionally charged entry into the MCU yet.

Years after Wolverine and the X-Men reset the future and
abolished the sentinel program, Mutants have slowly become accepted into
society as equals and things seem to be looking better for mutant kind

humanity. Charles Xaviar and his students must now prepare for a battle that

Past, X-Men Apocalypse brings one of the most iconic villains in the comic book
series to life and also reintroduces three very beloved fan favorites as bright
eyed young teens. When the dust settles, only the strong will survive the wrath

The lovable blue tank fish with short term memory loss returns to embark on an adventure that more than likely she probably will forget soon after it starts. After 14 years of waiting, Pixar Animation Studios answers the prayers of millions of fans by delivering the long awaited Finding Nemo sequel. This time around and probably to no one’s surprise, Dory is at the forefront of the film as she slowly starts to remember her past and hopes to find the family she thought she lost and forgot about.

They're Coming Back
20 years ago, the world experienced a devastating alien
invasion that claimed the lives of millions of innocent people. Thankfully, the
heroic efforts of a few brave individuals stopped the threat and saved the
planet from imminent destruction. Since then, the military has taken it upon
themselves to better prepare their soldiers and pilots for a possible second
invasion. However, there is a strong chance that when the next wave hits, we
will not be as prepared as we think we are. As the sequel to the 1996 sci-fi
blockbuster, Independence Day Resurgence sees the return of original cast
members Vivica A Fox, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Pullman as well as new faces like
Liam Hemsworth, Jeese Usher, and Joey King.
