HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLLOWERS!!! We are now well into day one of 2018. Last year was fun, but now a plethora of new adventures on the big screen await, In this post we will break down some of the biggest storylines heading into the new year and we'll conclude with my 10 ten movies to watch for. Let's start this year off right and get down to business.
Top Storylines of 2018
For the first time in the history of the long running franchise, Fox is releasing three films that take place in the X-Men universe. The first is a new take on the superhero genre with The New Mutants. Next, the lovable merc with a mouth makes his long overdue return in Deadpool 2, and finally the year concludes with the latest installment of the principle X-Men series with Dark Phoenix. A lot of mutant goodness will be on display this year and myself and others can't wait for what is to come.
The line up of films every year always offers up pop culture eye candy. But two films in particular offer an overload of nerdy goodness for fans. The pop culture heavy smorgasbord that is the adaptation of Ernest Cline's acclaimed novel and the anticipated sequel to Guillermo Del Toro's Sci-fi action adventure are sure to be big hits in 2018. With both films coming out in the same month, March is gonna be a huge month for the sweaties.
The landscape of Hollywood continues to change for the better. None is more apparent then the increased surge in diversity among big budget films. This year is no different. Walt Disney Studios is prepared to release two of the year's most anticipated movies that not only feature a diverse and of predominantly black cast, but also are led by up and coming directors of color Ryan Coogler and Ava DeVurney. Both exhibit a terrific sense of style that is sure to a crowd pleaser among moviegoers in addition to continuing to break new ground for people of color in the the film industry
