Analysis
After the colossal critical bomb that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, fans of the famed comic book series were looking for a return to form for their favorite anamantium clawed mutant. The Wolverine seemed to accomplish just that. Garnering a solid 68% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes among critics and 79% approval rating among fans and moviegoers, it would seem this Wolverine focused film was the one the fans wanted to see. ABC News’ David Blaustein gave the film  strong 4 out of 5 stars stating “The Wolverine” is comparable to “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” though it’s not as good as either of those movies.” He went on to say It was a bit unwieldy but its moral complexity, Jackman’s acting, and an absolutely stunning sequence that manages to turn the overdone top-of-the-train chase scene into something we haven’t seen before, puts “The Wolverine” in the upper echelon of super hero summer blockbusters.” Coming Soon.net praised the film as well giving it an 8.5 out of 10 stating, "Fans of the character disappointed by X-Men Origins who have been clamoring for a great Wolverine movie, one that lives up to Bryan Singer's early X-Men movies, should be thrilled. Those just wanting a solid, well-made action film might be surprised by how much depth Mangold brings to the mix. The results are the best comic book movie of the summer and one that rarely feels like a comic book movie.” Overall, The Wolverine delivered in many ways and gave fans the Wolverine movie they wanted and deserved.

Logan and the Silver Samurai Face Off

Review
As an avid fan of the X-Men film franchise, The Wolverine was a movie that I definitely wanted to check out. With this being the first of two X-Men films with another arriving in 2014, I was eager to see what Marvel could bring to the famed member of the mutant team. After watching the film, I can say for the most part pretty pleased. The film starts off pretty slow in the beginning but the action picks up over the course of the film. Hugh Jackman is by far my favorite thing about the movie. He hasn’t lost his touch as the cigar chewing anamantium claw-wielding mutant. He bring the same energy that made him own this role over a decade ago. He clearly has a strong passion and love for the character and it shows through the entire film. Another plus was Rila Fukushima’s portrayal of Yukio. She had a strong performance throughout the film and she became instantly likable from the jump. She had a great sense of playfulness and badassness that was such a joy to watch. In terms of action, the film delivered good moments, but not quite enough. The bullet train sequence was by far my favorite. Others including the climactic battle between Logan and the silver samurai were somewhat underwhelming. Overall, The Wolverine is a decent film that somewhat comes out to be an appetizer for a bigger more epic prize yet to come

Rating and Final Thoughts

Delivering decent action and a strong well developed story featuring Logan, The Wolverine, despite its flaws, manages to be a good addition to the superhero franchise.

Remember When I Said The Wolverine somewhat comes out to be an appetizer for a bigger more epic treat yet to come. That Treat Comes In The Form of Old School and New School getting together in the big screen adaption of one the most storied comic book arcs in X-Men history.
