Critical and Financial Analysis

The world has waited almost a decade and a half for the sequel to one of the most acclaimed superhero films of all time. Now, the day has come and fans can finally witness the next chapter of Bob, Dash, Helen, Violet, and Jack-Jack. The film comes with old and new characters while also looking to expand on this rich, vibrant and imaginative world. Critically, the film is a knockout. The film received an outstanding 94% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an equally strong 90% fresh rating from critics. Financially, the film dominated in every aspect. The movie shattered records and expectations with a massive $180 million dollar opening weekend. The film not only broke the opening weekend for an animated film but is now one of the top ten openings of all-time for a film of any genre. Incredibles 2 may have taken a long time to get here but the reception and box office numbers prove that the wait was worth it.

Shields UP!!!

Film Review

Like so many others, I was praying for a sequel to the Incredibles. The film was a monumental achievement for superhero films and animation while also capturing the imagination of a generation. 14 years later, Brad Bird and the entire cast return for arguably the most anticipated superhero film not named Avengers Infinity War. After experiencing the film, the excruciating 14-year wait was so worth it. It's hard to follow up a film that is considered a classic among animated films and the superhero genre, but Incredibles 2 manages to take the strongest elements of its predecessor and deliver a truly awesome sequel. To start, the animation is at its best throughout the film. Time and time again, Pixar has set a standard for pristine animation quality and Incredibles 2 is no exception. While the first film was groundbreaking in its own right, Incredibles 2 sports a more intricately detailed and realistic look while still maintaining the style and aesthetic of the first film. The difference is seen more prominently during the insane action set pieces. The movie's animation allows for the sequences to be breathtaking visually and the results culminate in action sequences that are fast-paced, thrilling, and just as incredibly spectacular as anything seen in live action. The voice talent is great as well. The returning voice cast all deliver in their returns with the standout being Helen Hunt as Elastigirl. She is more prominently front and center in the film which is a great benefit given the best action moments involve her. The supporting cast is still a lot of fun to watch as all getting a chance to shine. It's obvious the entire cast is having a blast and it shows in the performance. Summing it up Incredibles 2 continues Pixar new found hot streak by giving devoted fans a sequel worth cheering about. The film is one hell of a summer ride that can only be described as...INCREDIBLE.

Rating and Final Thoughts
Thrilling action, hilarious hi-jinks, and a heartfelt tone make this long-awaited sequel a must watch
and a cinematic treat for everyone.
