The Wonder, The Excitement, The
Emotion, and The Feeling!!! For nearly 4 decades, Star Wars has captivated and inspired generations of fans around
the world. The lovable characters, the iconic sounds, and the grand scale of
this vast and majestic sci fi universe are a true marvel in pop culture and
cinema. Now, after ten years since the release of the last film, fans are now
prepping themselves to return to that galaxy far, far away as Disney prepares
to usher in a new collection of Star Wars
films for fans to indulge in. Over the next 3-4 days, I will be taking you
through the process of getting emotionally ready for the anticipated release of
Star Wars The Force Awakens. We’ll
revisit old friends, get introduced to new ones, and get a behind the scenes
look at the next chapter in the Star Wars
saga. There’s been an awakening…Can You Feel It?
For Those Out Of The Loop
With all the hype, news coverage, and endless stream of TV
spots, there are a good amount of people who are actually asking this question: What is Star
Wars?
Crazy enough this actually isn’t an uncommon question. Though some fans
might look at you as if you’ve just said that Jar Jar Binks is a better
character than Han Solo,
others might be more understanding that not everyone
knows the impact or power that this franchise has in popular culture. Luckily,
a good amount of people may have at least experiences some aspect of the Star
Wars phenomenon whether it be through the TV shows, books, and games. Whatever
your interest or hobby, there is a good chance that Star Wars has a hand in it.
Star Bucks
However, the true
power of this pop culture monster lie in the films. Combined, all six films
have accumulated a grand total of $4.38 billion dollars making it the fifth
highest grossing film series of all time. That doesn’t even count the revenue
from merchandising. Speaking of which....
Hyper Boost
But of course, the Star Wars series got its most recent
commercial boost thanks to Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm a few years back.
Since then, the Star Wars brand has elevated at an incredible rate resulting in
monumental financial spikes and overwhelming commercial demand. Perfect example
of this is the historic reception of this past September's “Force Friday”.
Fans, including myself,
were absolutely craving to get our hands on the goodies for the new movie.
People spent hundreds even thousands of dollars on merchandise to quench their
thirst for the film that doesn’t come out till the end the year.

Did I also mention that some of the actual stars of the movie also cashed in on the fun too....
Fear and Hoping
As the film gets closer, the anticipation builds as well as
the skepticism of whether or not the film will live up to the hype. That said,
based on the facts presented and the footage shown, the film looks to be as
promising and full of life as everyone hopes. Only time will tell if this is
truly a cinematic event worth the price of admission.
