Re-Porter Blog: Road to Episode IX Part 2

Hey, followers welcome to part 2 of our road to Episode 9. Over the course of the sequel trilogy, the Resistance has been put through the wringer. From heavy losses to devastating betrayals, General Organa's forces have struggled in their fight to maintain hope in the galaxy. Despite it all, the Resistance still manages to fight on. Before their big decisive battle against the first order in The Rise of Skywalker, let's look back at the significant moments in their fight to maintain peace in the galaxy.

Tasked with the mission to find information on Leia's long lost brother Luke, Poe Dameron set course for the planet of Jakku, the sight of one of the most decisive battles in the galactic civil war.

There Poe linked up with Lor San Tekka, a known associate of Luke Skywalker, who was in possession of a section of a map that would lead the Resistance to the legendary Jedi. However, the First Order caught wind of the encounter ambushing the village and slaughtering all its inhabitants including San Tekka himself.

Poe was taken captive and brought aboard Kylo Ren's star destroyer to be tortured about the whereabouts of the map.

Luckily Poe's fate was changed in a big way when a stormtrooper named Finn, who looked to abandon the first order, offered to help him escape.

After an intense and Incredibly enthusiastic breakout, Finn & Poe crash-landed on Jakku. Finn awoke from being unconscious only to find no sign of pole but only his jacket that was left behind. Assuming he died in the crash, Finn went on to continue the mission of retrieving a Droid that held the map to the legendary Luke Skywalker.

Making his way into the Goazon Badlands, Finn located the Droid named BB-8who is in the possession of a young scavenger named Rey. After convincing Rey that he was part of the resistance, finding re-encounter Stormtrooper trolls and will pursue The Outpost. They came across the legendary Millennium Falcon on my own car plot and flew it Through the Graveyard of Giants in a desperate attempt to escape their first order pursuers.

After shaking them off, both Finn and Rey vowed to get BB 8 to the Resistance so they can locate Luke Skywalker and get him back in the fight.

Sometime later, Rey, Finn, and BB-8 were met by Han Solo and Chewbacca who agreed to help them get to the Resistance. They made their way to Takodana to acquire aid from Han's old friend Maz Kanata. After some emotional fallout which included Finn abandoning the group out of fear and Rey becoming overwhelmed through discovering Luke's lightsaber and her own force sensitivity, the First Order made their move to let the galaxy know that a new age was beginning.

The event sent shock waves through the galaxy as multiple other Resistance cells witnessed the Hosnian Cataclysm from different perspectives.

With no senate and no fleet, the Resistance felt the weight of the galaxy on their shoulders as they discovered they were the only real defense against the first order.

Kylo Ren and his forces soon arrived on Takodana and engaged in an intense firefight with Rey, Finn, Han, and Chewbacca. Things looked bleak until Poe Dameron arrived with Black Squadron to give some assistance.

With BB-8 and the map secured, the Resistance now had to regroup and get a sense of what lay before them.

Upon learning the location of Starkiller Base, the Resistance found an opportunity to strike back at the First Order. However, time was not on their side give that their hidden base on D'Qar was next to be hit. A mission to take down the base was set. Finn, Han, and Chewbacca would infiltrate the base and lower the shields while also at the same time rescuing Rey who had been taken captive by Kylo Ren on Takodana. With the shields successfully down, Poe and company commenced the attack.

Chaos ensued soon after as Poe and Black Squadron went after the thermal oscillator while Rey and Finn confronted Kylo Ren. The mission was successful despite the loss of Han and Finn being severely injured.

The Resistance took a moment to celebrate their brief victory but knew that they would soon be on the run.

After Starkiller Base, the Resistance knew they were short on time until they had the First Order at their doorstep. Worse, they came in the middle of their evacuation. Determined to by time for the fleeing forces, Leia dispatched Poe Dameron to create a distraction so the evacuation could continue as planned.

Against direct orders from his commanding officer, Poe took his squadron into a lethal firefight with First Order forces. One by one the bomber squadron sustained heavy losses until one was felt. Thankfully, the bomber released their payload in time destroying the dreadnaught and allowed the fleet to escape.

Poe's victory was quickly diminished after Leia demoted him for wasting lives for one ship. With their forces vastly depleted, the resistance found themselves in even worse shape than before. Now the question was how many would survive the next incursion?

Through the act of Hyperspace tracking, the First Order quickly caught up to the Resistance leaving them in the uncomfortable situation of being outmanned and outgunned. Kylo Ren took it upon himself to do his share of damage to their dwindling fleet.

Severe casualties were sustained in the skirmish including Poe's remaining squadmates, Admiral Akbar, a number of high ranking officials being slaughtered with Leia in a coma and unable to lead.

With the General out of commission, command shifted to Leia's old friend Admiral Holdo assumed command. Poe pleaded to be let in on her battle strategy but his actions on D'qar and his recent demotion were enough to keep him out of the loop. Holdo insisted he follow orders and waits for further instructions.

Unfortunately, Poe took matters into his own hands when he enlisted his friend Finn and maintenance worker Rose to partake in a mission that would hopefully save the Resistance. He sent the duo to Canto Bight to search for a code breaker who would shut the tracker down and allow them to escape undetected. It was a risky plan that was suspect from the beginning. But Poe's faith (or arrogance) drove him to proceed with the mission.

In an effort to buy his team more time, Poe staged a mutiny against Holdo and command and proceeded to the bridge to prepare for hyperspace. Unfortunately, things fell apart when Finn, Rose and their codebreaker DJ were apprehended by the First Order. Soon after, Poe was incapacitated by Leia and brought aboard a transport to escape. Poe awoke to the news that Holdo was actually dragging the First Order along so the remaining Resistance members could escape undetected toward the planet Crait, the sight of an old rebellion outpost. Leia spoke saying that Holdo's actions were precise in making sure the spark of the resistance remained.

Tragically, after a betrayal by Finn and Rose's codebreaker, the First Order locked on to the location of the transports and proceeded to take them out one by one. With hope dwindling and all deaths piling up, Holdo made the bold sacrifice to ensure the resistance's survival.

With only a handful of members left, the Resistance made their way to the planet's surface to wait for the inevitable armada.

With little time to prepare, the Resistance knew this would potentially be their last stand. Armed with nothing but old turrets and janky Ski Speeders, the Resistance took to fight to the enemy while they waited for reinforcements.

Their valiant effort proved to be no match for the First Orders superior force as they easily broke through the defenses and had the Resistance without options or help.  But hope came as the legendary Luke Skywalker came to their aid and proceeded to stand with the Resistance in their time of need.

With strength in his heart and a willingness to lay down his life, one man stared down the face of evil.

Kylo Ren took it upon himself to face his old master alone. The duel took an unexpected turn when it was revealed that Luke was not there. It was instead a projection from across the galaxy.

At the same time, Rey met with the Resistance survivors and safely got them on board the Falcon and out of harm's way.

Having barely escaped the clutches of the First Order, the Resistance took a moment to catch a breather and determine their next move

Time has passed since Crait and the Resistance has seen significant growth since then. Old allies and new friends have joined the ranks and have jumped back into the fight once again looking to end the reign of the First Order.

As for Rey, Finn, and Poe, their experiences have shaped them to be beacons of inspiration for the Resistance. Rey has become stronger in the force since taking on the mantle of Jedi. Poe has grown from his past faults to become a much more capable leader, and Finn finally finds his place officially joining the side of the light.

Big challenges lay ahead for the forces of the Resistance. But with friends and allies united and the force on their side, The Resistance can truly bring peace to the galaxy and ignite the fire that will burn the First Order down.
